Would significantly expanding an existing project count as a new project for the sake of this hackathon?

At a hackathon two weeks ago my team built this project: https://devpost.com/software/eyelexa

We were thinking of creating a custom Alexa device using the Alexa Voice Service. It would require a lot of expansion on what we have already, would that count as a new project?

    Hi Stefanie,

I think I also fall into this category. My previous team's award winning project didn't have the real iot component (we used a simulator). So in White Wolf 2, I am planning to build that component with real hardware AND also expand the original project ideas in a different direction. All codes will be rewritten and further developed within the time frame of this hackathon.
So I hope I am good?
PS: quite sad for not having the free arduino but I guess I can use the winning money from previous project to buy the hardware :P

    Hey Tam,

I'm glad you asked. Your idea must be totally new, not a pre-existing hackathon submission (even if it doesn't use the Arduino yet). Intel wants to see brand new hacks come out of the competition.

Can't wait to see what you create!

    Best,
    Stefanie
